Undoing Our Excessiveness

I was listening to a podcast sermon (a Scotsman preaching from Ecclessiastes) while walking in the heat the other day. He made a profound comment on the excessive amounts of money those in our culture spend on health clubs, work-out machines and the like. He noted that all of that spending would be unnecessary if we did not OVER indulge ourselves with food and leisure spending. How ironic! We over spend on mega-servings of food more often than not, and then find ourselves spending once again to undo our excesses! Would that people could discover this. Let him who has ears to hear, hear; and eyes to see, see.

DaVinci Code = Spiritual Propaganda

After weeks of reading, and recently seeing the DaVinci Code movie I can say with great certainty that it is a piece of spiritual propaganda — aimed at confusing the curious reader, and outright defaming Christianity.

PROPAGANDA =
derogatory information of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote or publicize a particular cause or point of view.

The historical inaccuracies and misrepresentations (in art interpretation, Judeo-Christian & related ancient documents), and the tenor of the dialogue and plot are too many and too pointed to be accidental. Author Dan Brown is trying to get his audience to not simply to question historic, biblical Christianity, but to abandon their faith in Christ and replace it with a feminine goddess of his creating.

The truth is still found in the Word of God. The truth is that Mary of Magdala openly worshipped Jesus Christ as the Son of God — her Savior from sin.

Try as they might, the gnostics old & new cannot, and will not bring down the cause of Christ. Instead they will only incur more of God’s wrath.
