It looked solid, until it fell

Dr Al Mohler, perhaps one of the brightest Christian thinkers of our day, makes this powerful observation in his BLOG ENTRY on the bridge collapse.

This is a metaphor for our lives and spiritual peril, as Jonathan Edwards so clearly understood…

This is exactly what pastors — and christians of all vocations — need to be pointing out to those around them.  Take the water-cooler discussion in a vertical direction!  May the Spirit speak through us to the lost, to others who are trusting in the condemned bridges of good works or religious sincerity, etc.  — Pastor David

God & the Minneapolis Bridge Collapse

I have been greatly grieved by the horrific collapse of the I-35W bridge in Minneapolis.  I used to drive over it at least once a day while attending seminary in the northern suburbs.  the river below was always worth a look as you passed by, but it was a long ways down.  mpls bridge broken Just tonight I have found some sobering, serious words by John Piper about the reality of suffering in our world, and the  spiritual lessons to be learned.  Interestingly, his voice is placed over some video from this recent disaster.  It is a powerful combination.  May it reach you, my friend, with the truth God wants us to hear.
