Jesus asked: Have you not read?

Should those disciples be doing that? asked some Pharisees, aiming to be critical of Jesus and condemn the behavior of His followers (see the first paragraph of Matthew 12). In His reply, Jesus bluntly asks (twice!), have you not read (in the Scripture)? By so doing, Jesus not only rebukes those who thought wrongly about His disciples, but points all of us to the one sure and faithful standard, the Scriptures (the Bible). He directs all of us to evaluate actions and behaviors by the Word of God.

How true it is,

Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.~ Matthew 4:4

How important it is to be reading your Bible daily, to grow in knowledge, understanding and wisdom. Or would you rather make mistaken judgements and later (eventually) face the blunt question of Jesus for yourself: Have you not read?

  1. Yes how very true Jesus’ words are and how easily we forget, Just like those waiting for Moses who fashioned a golden calf and said it was a sacrafice to the only true God. We claim to have learned the lesson given to us through Gods Son and through Gods written words yet how do we in Christiandom think of him? What representation do we utalize worldwide in connection with the Son. Mathew 4:4 says what? and how do we respond to the following verses?
    Exodus 20:4. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the water under the earth:
    5. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate me;

    Deut. 4:16 Lest ye corrupt [yourselves], and make you a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female,

    23. Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of the LORD your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image, [or] the likeness of any [thing], which the LORD thy God hath forbidden thee.
    24. For the LORD thy God [is] a consuming fire, [even] a jealous God.
    25. When thou shalt beget children, and children’s children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt [yourselves], and make a graven image, [or] the likeness of any [thing], and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to provoke him to anger:

    Isaiah 40:18. To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?
    19. The workman melteth a graven image, and the goldsmith spreadeth it over with gold, and casteth silver chains.
    20. He that [is] so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree [that] will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, [that] shall not be moved.
    21. Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?

    Isaiah 44:17. And the residue thereof he maketh a god, [even] his graven image: he falleth down unto it, and worshippeth [it], and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou [art] my god.
    18 They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; [and] their hearts, that they cannot understand.
    19 And none considereth in his heart, neither [is there] knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten [it]: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?
    20 He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, [Is there] not a lie in my right hand?

    Habakkuk 2:18 What profiteth the graven image that the maker thereof hath graven it; the molten image, and a teacher of lies, that the maker of his work trusteth therein, to make dumb idols?
    19 Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it [is] laid over with gold and silver, and [there is] no breath at all in the midst of it.

    Isaiah 44:13 The carpenter stretcheth out [his] rule; he marketh it out with a line; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house.

    Psalm 135:15 The idols of the heathen [are] silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.
    16 They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not;
    17 They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there [any] breath in their mouths.
    18 They that make them are like unto them: [so is] every one that trusteth in them.

    Yes my friends we live on every word comming from Gods mouth.
    Notice what Jesus says here at John 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

    24 God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth.

    Please notice and open your ears to hear and take heed to what the apostle Paul says to the congregations in Rome

    2 Tim. 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
    4 And they shall turn away [their] ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

    Oh yes my friends when we’re told that words clearly written mean things other than what they say we must follow the instruction given us by Almighty God through the apostle John at

    1 John 4: 1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.

    Notice why this is a must…..

    Col. 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

    Mat. 7:13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide [is] the gate, and broad [is] the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
    14 Because strait [is] the gate, and narrow [is] the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

    Acts 15:19 Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:

    20 But that we write unto them, that they abstain from pollutions of idols…………….

    Are we using ANY objects in our prayers or do we have any objects that represent our GOD in our posession ? Nevermind how or what most religious leaders say, what does Almighty God say ? What are we as believers in the true God going to do about it ? Who will we follow ?
    Remember
    2 Cor.11:13 For such [are] false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

    14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

    15 Therefore [it is] no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

    May peace and love be with you all your days
