Last Sunday’s sermon on ISAIAH 27, about a redeemed vineyard, focused on the great promise of verse six:

27:2 In that day, “A pleasant vineyard, sing of it! 3 I, the Lord, am its keeper; every moment I water it. Lest anyone punish it, I keep it night and day…
6 In days to come Jacob shall take root, Israel shall blossom and put forth shoots and fill the whole world with fruit.

This is a great contrast with the vineyard of Isaiah 5, which received no rain, and was given over to thorns and briers because it brought forth only “wild” (bad) grapes for its Owner.

I then quoted Barry Webb on the significance of this: 

“The song finishes in verse 5, but verse 6 then makes the GREAT REVERSAL plain. The world will no longer invade the vineyard, the vineyard will invade the WORLD, filling it with fruit. 
Here at last will be the fulfillment of the promise made to Abraham in Genesis 12:2–3.”
