Oliver Cromwell, born this day in 1599 (d. 1658), became Lord Protector of England, having led the armed forces of Parliament to victory in the English Civil War in the 1640’s. A resolute Christian man, he ruled England from 1653 to 1658, during the age of the Puritans.
