Give life – give blood

Yesterday, our church and a local TV station sponsored a Red Cross Blood Drive. During one of the slow spells in the schedule I stepped up to donate my own blood. I was asked to be a “double red” donor — giving 2 pints of blood cells, sorted through a special machine which would return some of the blood cells (and a neutral saline solution) back to my body.  It was new to me, but I went ahead with it and really enjoyed the experience.  I actually came away feeling refreshed (instead of a bit tired).  As you celebrate the 4th of July, and the freedoms America enjoys, I encourage you to give the gift of life to someone, and donate blood.  You can find a place in your area through this RED CROSS site.
